In many petrochemical processes oxygen is an undesired contaminant that negatively impacts the reaction or degrades the final product. E.g. olefin co-catalyst systems will provide high yields and quality of the final polyolefin if the olefin feedstock stream is absolutely oxygen free. UHP Oxygen analyzers with ppb or low ppm capabilities are needed to ensure the production can be maintained at optimum.

Zieglar-Natta and metallocene catalysts are used to initiate and control the polymerization reaction to assure product quality and processing performance of plastics such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polyesters, etc. Trace oxygen contamination can spoil the process and affect product quality. | 50 ppb to 10 ppm O2 | Ethylene, propylene, butadiene, N2 blanket |

Measurement of oxygen levels in pipelines containing natural gas and olefin feedstocks assures quality of polyolefin product. An increasing O2 level indicates a possible air leak creating a potentially explosive gas mixture. | <5 ppm O2 | Ethylene, propylene, butadiene |

Measurement of trace O2 contamination that can act as a catalyst for undesirable polymerization during steam cracking hydrocarbon feedstocks (ethane, propane, butane, naptha, natural gas, etc.) to produce olefin feedstocks (ethylene, propylene, butadiene, H2 and others). These are separated and purified and an increasing O2 levels indicates an air leak creating a potentially explosive hazard. | 250 ppb to 5 ppm | Hydrocarbon feedstocks, ethylene, propylene, butadiene |

Measuring the purity of oxygen used in conjunction with closed loop processes to enable producers of intermediate products to switch from olefin feedstocks to less expensive alkane feedstocks such as butane, ethane and propane. It allows recirculation of off-gases and smaller vessel size (additional cost savings) while reducing the potential for explosive hazards. Products:
